Spring has arrived at East Plean
East Plean primary school is celebrating after being awarded funding to transform their school playground as part of the Springwatch initiative. The school has been working closely with Forth Environment Link to develop and use their outdoor spaces.
Eve Keepax of FEL said ‘I am delighted. This will be an opportunity to have a range of living resources which will grow in value, and benefit both school and community’
In order to be considered for the money, Primary 1 teacher Lynne Tarvit had to give a one minute presentation on the MacAuley and Co show on BBC Radio Scotland (28/04/08) to a Dragon’s Den type panel.
The BBC Scotland Spring Watch Action Team (SWAT) judged her presentation the stronger of two (the other challenger from the Stirling area was from the Craighall Back Court Community Gardens in Raploch).
The money which is from the BBC Breathing Places fund will help to transform a tarmac desert at the front of the school into a welcoming, restful and inspiring area.
Transformation days will be part of BBC Radio Scotland transmissions on 8th June.
If you would like to volunteer to help on 8th June, contact Eve at FEL for more information
