3 Exciting Roles in Active Travel & Bike Maintenance

Forth Environment Link (FEL) is recruiting three new active travel Project Officers to join our highly experienced team. These roles will support our work to help more people cycle and walk for short, everyday journeys. Two of the roles will join our Bike Medic team, ensuring our ebike and pedal bike fleet are in tip top condition for loan to keyworkers and others keen to join the cycling revolution.
One post will help with outreach activity, specifically in support of our work with NHS Forth Valley, and will help staff, visitors and patients to be more physically active by cycling and walking more.
All roles form part of our existing project delivery teams helping tackle climate change and contributing to our region’s net zero ambitions.
Both roles are positioned at entrant job level and pay the living wage.
Position 1:
Role:Bike Medic Officer (x2)
Salary: £24,250
Hours: 35 hours per week
Fixed Term Contract: Until 31st March 2022, extension of contract subject to the confirmation of additional funding
Location: Based primarily at Falkirk Active Travel Hub, 203 High St, Falkirk FK1 1DU with travel across the Forth Valley area. Some working from home will be required.
About the Role:
FEL is looking for two qualified Bike Mechanics to work as part ofour Bike Medic Project, based out ofour Falkirk Hub. You will effectively support the maintenance and servicing of FEL’s fleet of electric bikes as well as supporting FEL’s external bike servicing contracts. You will be a key member of staff ensuring excellent customer service as well as ensuring all e-bikes and pedal bikes are maintained to a high standard. You will support with the development and maintenance of excellent working relationships internally and with external partners, as well as with members of the public.
You will also have a supporting role in running the Bike Medic rescue and roadside recovery for cyclists, which may include out of hours call out service, principally supporting FEL’s eBike fleet.
The Bike Medic Officer will have strong practical and communication skills ensuring FEL’s reputation for delivering exemplar projects is retained, leading the way in encouraging behaviour change in relation to active travel and climate action.

Location: FEL Stirling Office, Cameron House, Forthside Way, Stirling FK8 1QZ and NHS Forth Valley Sites in Stirling and Larbert, and working from home.
About the Role:
Working as part of the Active Travel team, you will support the Senior Project Officer for NHS in shaping the services offered by the Active Travel Team, with particular emphasis on NHS engagement activity as well as supporting general Active Travel outreach activities. Working alongside the Senior Project Officer for NHS and the wider Active Travel Team you will help to identify new cycling and walking demonstration projects which will ensure FEL’s Active Travel activity remains at the forefront of Active Travel development in Scotland.
You will be responsible for developing and maintaining excellent working relationships both internally and with external partners and crucially members of the public. You will have strong practical and communication skills ensuring FEL’s reputation as an exemplar project is retained, leading the way in encouraging behaviour change in relation to Active Travel.
